Lately I have found myself mired in a lot of turmoil that’s not of my making, but is impacting me. I also can’t do much about it. That’s a prescription for stress, which isn’t good for anyone.
While we know that crocheting and knitting are excellent stress relievers, sewing can be just as soothing. Tonight I headed to my sewing room, which felt like a better option than grabbing a pint of ice cream and binging True Crime on Netflix. Over the weekend I had purchased a pair of clip on sunglasses, and wanted a softer, but more sturdy case for them. The one included with them is,… ugly.
I found a small, happy remnant with flamingos on it, and a matching solid for the lining. The (free) pattern can be found on JMB Handmade and is simple and straightforward. It made for a perfect weeknight project.

Sometimes I am thankful that I hoard craft supplies. Tonight was such a time. I found an ample supply of buttons to choose from as well as leftover elastic from making masks.

Tomorrow I will add this happy little accessory to my bag as I head out the door. The vibrant colors will make me smile as will my sense of accomplishment. The bonus? My clip on sunglasses will remain safe and unscratched.
My biggest challenge is going to be not making 25 more of these same items in different fabrics. I will definitely make a couple more as I begin my holiday gift planning.
It’s nice to have quick and accessible craft projects that are simple enough to work through when we are stressed, but substantial enough to impart a sense of satisfaction when we are done.
